12th august 1959 proved to be a very magnificent day for the chess world as this amazing player was born on the same. As well all know he is the first Indian to get a chess Grandmaster norm and the first Indian to win the Commonwealth Chess Championship.

He was won many laurels and possess very practical and experienced strategy skills. His best single performance was at Brighton (BCF Championship) 1984, where he scored 6, 5 of 10 possible points (65%) against 2549- rated opposition, for a performance rating of 2623. In the January 2009 FIDE list, he has an Elo rating of 2469, making him India’s number 24.

He got his third Indian Grandmaster’s Title in the year 1997 after VISHY ANAND SIR and DIBYENDU BARUA.

He has devoted many of his precious years in playing chess and is an inspiration of millions. At the age of 60, he is still very active and is always a step forward when it comes to chess. He has proven that chess is a miracle for those who dedicate themselves into it completely.

He is one of the greatest and most humble player India as well as the World has got. We wish him nothing but good luck and hope you give us such inspiration and motivation in future too. So many youngsters learn a lot from you and demonstrate this great personality as their role model which is itself a proud moment.
