AICF CHIEF SELECTOR RESIGNS!

It is one of the most traumatized and sad news that AICF chief selector and a renowned GRANDMASTER RB RAMESH resigned from the post of the chief selection committee of All India Chess Federation.

He did this by protesting against the interference in Indian team selection process for the online Chess Olympiad team by Bharat Singh Chauhan.

The ongoing issue in the AICF popped out its nasty head again when the two warring groups named separate sides for the world tea event which is about to begin from July 22.

Moreover, the groups were controlled by president PR VENKETERAMA RAJA and Secretary Bharat Singh Chauhan gathered at some agreement but not before raising a lot of storm.

It came into note that Chauhan insisted on including the name of a Delhi player to which Ramesh object that the player wasn’t eligible on technical standards. Ramesh took the issue seriously when Chauhan forwarded the confidential mail of the selection panel directly to the player concerned.

Protesting against such injustice and the illegal act of leaking such a confidential mail the former Commonwealth chess champion tendered his resignation immediately.

Ramesh insisted that he had recommended the team going by the ratings of January to March since no tournaments have happened after that. But any player in order to be considered should play a fixed number of matches, which the Delhi-based player, in spite of having the rating, had not done.

The selection panel included International Master Lanka Ravi and Fide Master Ashwini Tiwari apart from Ramesh.

On the other hand Vishwanathan Anand and Koneru Humpy have confirmed their participation in the online Olympiad.

Resignation of such a great legend from the chief selection panel is a huge loss in the world of chess and a lack of correct decision making will be felt.
